Keep Speaking to Your "Dry Bone" Situation

Ps. Shinoj Joseph Ezekiel 37:4โ€“5

Keep Speaking to Your "Dry Bone" Situation
In one line: Dry bones are the dead, hopeless situations in our lives. Keep speaking God's word over them, whether or not you see a response. The Spirit's breath turns dry bones into an army.

1. Ezekiel's Calling

Ezekiel was one of the prophets captured by the king of Babylon. A major share of his ministry was therefore among the captives, which was not an easy task.

The Israelites hoped they would go back soon, but Jeremiah wrote to them that it would take about 70 years. Through Ezekiel, the Lord was telling his people the reason for their captivity: it was the consequence of their actions.

So what was Ezekiel's role? There is a fundamental commandment: even if the Israelites listen or not, practise or not, keep preaching.

Why? Only one reason: what is happening is not unknown to God, and God will take them through. Don't lose faith or give up, but hold on. Know that I have a comeback.

2. When Hope Runs Out

By the time Ezekiel comes to chapter 10, the Israelites had given up and decided to settle in Babylon.

This is where his ministry was. In Ezekiel 37:2, he was asked to walk amongst the dry bones.

Dry bones = the dead, hopeless circumstances in our lives. Areas that have lost all life, where nothing seems to move and there is no hope.

Similarly, the Lord is asking us to walk among our dry bones. These circumstances have one message to give: that there is no hope. But this is not the message that a child of God must listen or give heed to. It has only a story of disappointments, setbacks and hopelessness. We must listen only to the message of God, that of hope and life.

While Ezekiel walked around the bones, he noticed that they were dry and had lost all life. The dryness in our lives will be moved as we walk around it. In 2026, if we are ready to accept God's word, every area of dryness will leave.

3. God's Question for Us

God has a question for us: will there be a movement in the dry areas of our lives? God knows the end, but he wants to know from us.

If Ezekiel had said, "No, the bones will not move," his ministry would have ended.

Similarly, the key to deliverance lies in our mouth! Take the step of bold faith against the dryness.

โ†’ Ezekiel gave a diplomatic answer: "Lord, I don't know, but you know."

If we can at least show this kind of honesty, "I don't know, but Lord, you know", that is a start.

The Lord desires to work in our situation of dry bones and death right now. It can be brought to life, if we respond rightly.

4. "Tell These Bones" (Verse 7)

Even if the bones don't hear now, as you prophesy, the bones will develop ears.

This was the direction Ezekiel kept hearing from the beginning: keep prophesying, whether they hear or not. Something is happening in the background.

5. The Shaking

โ‘  Segregation

There must have been no immediate change in the bones. But as he kept doing it, the bones kept segregating. In fact, these shakings are what keep us with Christ. During this shaking, bone comes to bone.

Therefore, remember that when we start prophesying, shaking starts to bring the parts together. This is not to destroy us but to build us.

It was only after the bones came together that the sinews appeared.

The bones were once moving well, but now that they were dry, they needed help.

6. The Breath and the Army (Verses 8โ€“10)

Verse 8 โ†’ The bones were taking shape, but they didn't have life.

Verse 9 โ†’ Ezekiel was asked to prophesy to the wind. There was no point speaking to flesh, because now it was for the Holy Spirit.

Only the wind of the Holy Spirit will bring life to the dry bones that have now taken shape, to become an army of God. God hasn't placed us here for the bones to stay that way, but to form an army.

Ezekiel was ready to be a fool for God. Similarly, God wants us to be fools: to look at the "dry bones without ears" situation and declare, so that we can see the army there.

Verse 10 โ†’ "So I prophesied as he commanded." This is where we speak to the wind.

The key is this: whether it responds or not doesn't matter. We still do it first, because God told us to do it.

We are not brought here to sit back and cry, but to see the movement.

"They became an exceedingly great army."

Before we become a great army, we undergo training. But it's not for long, and we come back as a great army.

7. Remember

  • The Lord lets us go through distress when we are not right with him. He doesn't spank to punish, but to discipline us and bring us back into his will. I am coming back to his will.
  • The greatest defeat is when the glory of God goes from us. If there is even a small element of glory, the Lord will shower us with more. Let the glory of God be upon us!
